History of Reframed Dance

Reframed Dance was originally started in 2023 by James “Wilder” Smith.

Wilder was an artist in the truest sense of the word and had a creative view and goal in everything he did. He started Reframed as a way to share art, originally selling handmade frames with interchangeable art prints. Each month would bring new art and color into your home, and that concept was always at the core of what Wilder did – bringing color into people’s lives.

After months of creating art and frames, Wilder’s expansive dance background came out. He began teaching social dancing class, focusing not on perfect technique, but rather on connecting with the music and those around you. Hosted in smaller event spaces and breweries, you could find Wilder getting even the most cemented of wallflowers on the dance floor and enjoying the music.

Sadly, in November 2024, Wilder passed and the world lost a bright light. In the weeks following his passing, many members of the community wanted to keep the connection that Wilder brought to us growing. Through a lot of meetings, our ever active Discord Channel, and the love for dancing Wilder instilled in us, Reframed Dance was created. We believe Reframed Dance showcases the importance of connection, how dance can create that connection, and how important our bonds to one another are.
